|back in the saddle...|

Just got together with my housemate and a friend to do some drawing yesterday. We're starting to do this thing where we get together every Sunday and just draw. This is the first drawing that I've done in a loooong time.
I like the idea of doing this because it forces me to follow through and complete a drawing, which I haven't done in a long time.
Another return-to-days-of-old that this represents for me is drawing a picture direrctly from a pre-existing source. I think that it's time that I go back to this for a bit so that I can improve my basic techniques and understanding of stuff like shading and what-not for my original artwork. For instance, besides being a great way to study good shading techniques, I learned a lot about different levels of pencil softness and when to use which soft/hardness while doing this drawing. I'm pretty satisfied with the whole process. Anyway, without further ado:
I chose a drawing by Korean artist Hyung Tae Kim (I have an artbook of his amazing work that I chose to go from - by that book, btw!) from his work for the RPG series Magna Carta. The character I chose was Agreian Jei Owen. Art in the LJ cut.
here's the original for reference:
There are a couple of details here and there that ended up different, but I'm pleased with the overall result. C+C welcome.
I will most likely keep up this Sunday drawing thing as it gives me a good reason to continue drawing -- something I've been sadly negligent in recently. Expect new stuff every week (hopefully).
